  • The Finite Element Method has the rare distinction of being an active area of research in Engineering, Physics and Mathematics. For the Mechanical Engineer is a very versatile tool that can be used in the resolution of problems in Solid Mechanics, Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics and Electromagnetism. Moreover, it can be used in problems involving several of these fields combined (Multi-physics).

Being such a powerful tool, it must be applied with caution and a clear understanding of its strengths and limitations. This course will give the students the basic tools to be able to understand the method, as well as the tools to explore further and evaluate specific applications of it.
